Many of the photos I rescue are not identified. I call these orphan photographs. Even though I don't know who the people are in the photos, they could be someone's ancestor.

These are two 6th plate tintypes 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" each, in a double gutta percha daguerreotype case. I found them in an antique store in Cambridge Ontario in 2011. Usually in a double case, the photos inside are of husband and wife or two young siblings. My hunch is that these are husband and wife

TIP: Before I remove photographs from an antique album, I photograph the album covers and inside pages in its intact and original form. That way I can place the photos back or, if the album itself cannot be saved, I have a record of the original placement of the photos. This can be a good clue for identifying the subjects.  ​
