Album 21: Wallace Album 

This album contained photos of the WALLACE, DEAN, MITCHELL, JOHNSTON families of Bruce & Huron County. 

Surnames: Wallace, Dean, Mitchell, Johnston

​I purchased this old photo album full of photos dating from the 1860s to about 1920. There are several very early photos which look to be of the Civil War period (early to mid 1860s). This album was inscribed (no date) to "Mrs. Martha J. Wallace, A present from friend[s?] A. M. W. [difficult to read but it is definitely an A. and what looks like commas between two more letters - M and W]

One photo of three young women was labelled and dated:
March 19, 1916 in Kincardine
Margaret Hamilton of Lochalsh [?]
Eleanor Hall of Kincardine
Martha Dean of Ripley

I suspect that the Martha Dean of Ripley is the Mrs. Martha J. Wallace who owned the album. There is another photo of a young woman with a baby, labelled "Martha" which looks like the Martha Dean in the 1916 photo.

Many photos are labelled with the town in which they were taken: Lucknow [which is in Huron and Bruce Co] - several photos, Ripley [Bruce Co.] - several photos , Kincardine [Bruce Co.] - several photos , Goderich [Huron Co.] - several photos , Clinton [Huron Co.] - several photos , Orangeville [only one photo with that address] , Marquette MI [only one photo with that address]

There are no other photos from this album available for scanning

• One photo was of two children perhaps teens labelled "Margt. and Geo. Christopher" 
• One was of a young man labelled "Jimmie Mitchell" and this was taken in Clinton. Another which is possibly him with a young woman (their wedding??) was taken in Lucknow
• Another labelled photo was that of "Chas Johnston" taken in Goderich. There appear to be several pictures of this same man although they are not labelled.
